– The brother of South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius has been charged with culpable homicide over a car accident in 2010, media reports say.
Carl Pistorius allegedly killed a female motorcyclist while driving outside Johannesburg, his lawyer Kenny Oldwage confirmed to eNews Africa Channel and Eyewitness News.
Prosecutors accused Carl Pistorius of driving recklessly in the accident.
But Mr Oldwage denied the charges and said Carl Pistorius was not a drunk.
He said the woman died because she rode into Carl Pistorius’s car, the New York Post reported. Carl Pistorius is charged with culpable homicide, a lesser charge than the premeditated murder case his brother faces.
The charge carries a possible 15-year prison term.
Carl’s trial was supposed to begin on Thursday, the day his Olympian brother was freed on bail. it was postponed until next month.
“Blade Runner” Oscar is staying with his uncle after being bailed pending trial over the killing of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He was freed on a record one-million-rand ($A110,656) bail after eight days in cells and an emotionally charged four-day bail hearing.
