MAN HURT IN GANG ASSAULT – Saturday March 9 2013

– A machete-wielding gang is being hunted by police after striking twice in 25 minutes and leaving one victim seriously injured.
The gang – armed with a machete and at least one knife – chased a man for 50 metres before hitting him from behind and bashing him at Lynbrook train station in Melbourne’s South-East just before midnight on Thursday.
They stole the 28-year-old Langwarrin man’s bike, phone and wallet.
Just minutes earlier they had terrorised a 24-year-old Frankston man and a woman, robbing them of $50 and a phone.
Detective Acting Sergeant Paul Bertoncello said the gang of 11 males, believed to be Pacific Islanders, were aged between 16 and 20 – Jon Kaila
