The tense standoff was sparked after the man, aged in his 30s, locked himself inside a Napier Street, Black Hill, home shortly after 8am yesterday.
Police had been called to the property after reports of an altercation between up to five men.
On arrival they were told a number of men had left while another man had entered the home armed with a gun.
Critical Incident ResponseTeam members negotiated with the man for several hours before he was arrested without incident.
There was no one else inside the property.
Following the man’s arrest, police seized a number of firearms and other weapons from the home.
The Black Hill man received medical treatment for an injury police belief was sustained during an altercation with the men who had earlier left.
