DOUBLE MURDER CHARGE – Sunday March 31 2013

– Witnesses have described hearing blood-curdling screams, shouting and swearing at the scene of an alleged double murder in a normally quiet part of the NSW Central Coast.
A young girl and her brother were in the house at Killarney Vale where the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered about 8:30pm on Friday, after a violence spree spanning 23 kilometres that allegedly included a car-jacking and attempted home invasion.
A 25-year-old man, Corey Breen, has been charged with the stabbing murders of the 55-year-old man and the 45-year-old woman. A police spokeswoman said detectives had taken a knife from the crime scene for forensic examination.
Mr Breen was remanded in custody after appearing in Gosford Local Court on Saturday.
Police believe the night of violence began in Hay Street, Gorokan, where Mr Breen has reportedly lived for about one year with his partner and two children.
It is alleged that after the incident in Hay Street, Mr Breen attempted a car-jacking and allegedly stabbed a man in nearby Dudley Street. The injured man then drive to a nearby service station on Wallarah Road at Gorokan to raise the alarm while Mr Breen continued to a takeaway shop on the same street and allegedly attempted to assault two men inside.
After allegedly stealing a car, Mr Breen is accused of attempting a home invasion before travelling to Playford Road, where the alleged murders took place.
A friend of the deceased, Simon Richmond, told the ABC he was devastated by what had happened.
Nearby residents, who did not wish to be named, arrived first on the scene after hearing a commotion.
They described the scene that confronted them as terrible and traumatic and said they alerted police immediately.
