– Homicide detectives are investigating the killing of three people at the weekend.
Two of the victims were women, and their attackers we still at large last night.
In the third case, the brother of the victim was charged with murder and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
The latest killing occurred yesterday in St Albans. Police discovered the body of a woman, 21, from Keilor Downs.
Homicide Squad detectives were called to the Cuurunghi Circuit home just after 5am after a neighbour reported hearing a gunshot.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles said a man who was known to the dead woman and others at the house fled in a red car, believed to be a Toyota.
Detective Senior Sergeant Iddles, urging the man to surrender himself, stressed police would explore all theories, including accidental shooting.
Drugs are believed to have been found at the house, but the dispute was not thought to be about them, he added.
Another woman was found dead at a house in Doveton Street, Ballarat, on Saturday. Her four-year-old son was also in the house.
Police said yesterday the investigation was continuing and urged anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.
An Altona Meadows man, 28, was found dead at a house in Beleura Way, Seabrook, on Saturday night.
A 32-year-old man, who police confirmed was the brother of the dead man, was charged with murder and was scheduled to appear in court today – Jon Kaila
