MAN DIES IN CUSTODY – Thursday May 2 2013

– The Homicide Squad is investigating the death of a man being taken by police to hospital in Melbourne’s south-east.
A 37-year-old man, who police say was subject to a community treatment order, was being driven to Casey Hospital in Berwick yesterday afternoon when he died in custody.
A police statement said officers had been requested to attend the scene by Ambulance Victoria and a crisis assessment team.
The Homicide Squad is investigating on the direction of the Coroner, and the probe will be overseen by the force’s professional standards command and also by the Independent Broad Based Anti-Corruption Commission – Herald Sun
