– Police are investigating the theft of five antique guns from an RSL club last month.
Detectives who viewed CCTV footage believe three men staked out the club a week before smashing their way in and taking the guns.
Senior Constable Susanna Hughes said the burglary at Mentone RSL on Palermo Street was premeditated.
“They knew exactly what they wanted as they took a cordless angle grinder to cut through the ties holding the guns on display,” she said.
Police believe a large bluestone brick was used to break into the club at about 4am on April 15th. The thieves then smashed a glass cabinet to steal the guns.
Senior Constable Hughes said the guns had been made inoperable before being put on display.
The three men are described as being Southern European. Two are believed to be in their mid-20s to early-30s.
The third is believed to be in his early 20s and has a distinctive undercut with longer hair on top.
Police believe the men were driving a dark-coloured, late model Ford with a rear spoiler, probably an XR6.
Three women who punched another woman and tried to steal her mobile phone and handbag are being hunted by police.
The women approached their victim from behind and asked to use her phone.
Police said that when she refused, two of them assaulted her.
The incident happened in Park Street, St Kilda West, at 8:25pm on March 24th.
After the victim screamed for help, the women ran down Mary Street towards the beach.
They are described as African, in their late teens to early 20s, with braided hair.
One woman was about 175cm, thin build and wearing a tight red or pink dress and heels.
Another was about 175cm, of thin build and wearing all black clothing.
