MALE FIGHTING FOR LIFE AFTER BRAWL OUTSIDE PUB

Monday September 23 2013

– A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being punched outside a pub in Melbourne’s west.
Police have been told the 34-year-old was with his girlfriend at the Sunshine venue when an unknown man approached them about 7:30pm on Friday and an argument broke out.
Police were told the offender then punched the man, who fell to the ground and hit his head on the footpath, rendering him unconscious.
Prior to the incident, security staff had asked the man and his girlfriend to leave the pub.
They refused and a scuffle broke out before the man was ejected from the venue and onto the street.
It is not known whether the two incidents are related.
An Alfred Hospital spokesman said on Sunday evening the man was still in critical condition.
