– Two female exchange students called police when they discovered the smoke detectors were actually hidden cameras.
The cameras were in every room in the Tampa, Florida, apartment, including the bathroom where it was trained on the shower.
For three months, every move made by the students could be observed.
Sickening find: The students point to the camera in the bathroom which was aimed at the shower
Vanya Samokovareva, 22, and 23-year-old Ralitsa Dzhambazova, who are from Bulgaria, said they were sickened when they found the cameras on Monday.
‘I’m feeling very bad,’ Miss Amokovareva told a local TV station.
She said she covered the camera in the bathroom aimed at the shower with tape.
‘This is terrible. I never expect that this thing can happen to me or my friend,’ said Miss Dzhambazova.
‘We just came here to spend one summer in the United States, to work here.’
‘The bathroom and your room, this is the private place.’
Watched: The taped up camera in the bathroom and one in the hallway
Investigators are now looking for the person who planted the cameras, the New York Daily News reports.
The Hillsborough County sheriff’s report said: ‘These cameras at first glance appeared to be motion detectors for an alarm system or smoke detectors.
‘Detectives will attempt to determine if the system has been active.’
Investigators were not sure if the cameras were recording or being viewed from a remote location.
Shocked: Ralitsa could be seen taking a shower and going to bed
Appalled: Vanya called the police as soon as she saw what she thought was a camera
