– A pen-gun seized during a police investigation.
A YOUNG Sydney woman allegedly involved in the syndicated manufacture and supply of homemade pen guns has been charged.
THE 25-year-old was arrested at a West Hoxton home on Wednesday morning following weeks of investigations by firearms and organised crime squad detectives, during which 15 pen guns have been seized.
The guns fire a .22 calibre round.
“These weapons have been made by people with no qualifications or skills in firearm manufacturing,” Detective Superintendent Mick Plotecki said.
“They are crudely built and as a result very dangerous both for the person firing the weapon and anyone in the near vicinity.”
The woman has been charged with supplying a prohibited firearm to an unauthorised person.
She’s been granted conditional bail and is due before Liverpool Local Court on October 22.
Two men have also been caught in the operation.
Several offences relating to the manufacture and supply of unregistered and prohibited firearms have been laid against one of the men, 27, whose matters are before the courts.
