Two car thieves ran off after smashing a stolen car into another vehicle when they ran a red light in Geelong.
The pair left behind an injured woman who had to be taken to hospital after the crash.
Police said a black SS Holden Commodore was stolen during a home invasion at Little Kilgour St, Geelong, on Monday morning before it ran a red light at the intersection of Ballarat Rd and Shannon Ave, hours later.
Acting Sergeant Jane Arnold said the car slammed into the passenger side of a couple’s white Toyota Echo, injuring the woman
Sgt Arnold said the woman was “extremely lucky” to escape with only minor injuries.
The Manifold Heights couple had been only blocks from home.
“The stolen car was travelling west along Ballarat Rd from Geelong and the other car heading south along Thompson Rd to Shannon Ave when the stolen car ran a red light,” Sgt Arnold said.
“The driver and the passenger of the stolen car then fled on foot west along Ballarat Rd and into Graham St where they were last seen.”
Sgt Arnold said both vehicles were destroyed and the injured woman, aged in her 30s, was taken to Geelong hospital for treatment.
The wanted men are described as being aged in their 20s, one with dark skin and the other Caucasian.
