Four Charged And Arrested In Preston

Police have arrested four people in relation to alleged drug and weapon offences following a routine patrol in Preston early this morning.

Operational Response Unit were patrolling outside a hotel on Bell Street just before 1 am when they observed a stolen vehicle exit the car park.

Members made enquiries and arrested a man in the foyer of the hotel and located a knife and drugs allegedly in his possession.

A man and a woman were then arrested in one of the rooms after a large amount of drugs, a firearm and ammunition was located in the room.

The driver of the stolen car returned to the hotel and was also arrested.

Police located a large amount of cash and drugs allegedly in his possession.

A 26-year-old Reservoir man, a 37-year-old Sebastopol woman, a 53-year-old Doreen man and a 30-year-old Sunshine man have been charged with numerous offences including possession and trafficking of drugs.

All four have been bailed to appear in Heidelberg Magistrates Court on January 10th, 2017.

A 31-year-old Dandenong North woman was interviewed and released pending further enquiries.
